The view of the Thunderbird from Guano Point.
The Thunderbird is that red area on the cliff on the other side of the canyon. The head is near the point of the rim, and the beak is facing your right as you look at this picture. They call this area Guano Point because of the old, closed guano mine. The metal thing on the left of the picture is a leftover from the guano mine. The guano comes from the bats that live in the cave here. Guano is rich in nitrates. It's used for fertilizer and explosives (we all knew that) and for lipstick and mascara (I bet the women reading this blog will now think twice about putting lipstick and mascara on their lips and eyes).
